Purple Orchid Bed & Breakfast
Experience the magic... ?of this historic and unique Victorian farmhouse Bed and Breakfast. Built mostly in 1888-1898 by Sam Byrd and 4 carpenters with clear virgin chestnut, amazing blistered poplar (a very rare find, so we're told), cherry and walnut that was cut & milled on the property, with six fireplaces; the splendor of the wood and craftsmanship will astonish you. Get away from it all, and share our peaceful home. Sit by our large 2 sided fireplace and play a game of chess, or sit on our wrap-around porch and take in our peaceful surroundings with bird feeders and lovely views. Enjoy a twenty minute pre-soak in our hot tub; then a wonderfully relaxing massage by the very talented David Oye. David has been a professional Massage Therapist since 1983 when he studied under Olena Mykietuch in Philadelphia before she moved her school to Toronto. He uses a combination of Swedish, Traeger, Pressure Point Work and others as he sees fit. David is very intuitive and will apply the method and amount of pressure he feels you need. Your meal in the morning is bound to please you. On the weekends, Judy will fix you a substantial, meat free meal such as; Caramelized Apples with Cr?pes topped with Cr?me Fraiche, or, Eggs Florentine with Orange Dill Sauce, all prepared with as many organic and locally grown ingredients as possible. Fresh squeezed orange or grapefruit juice is always served. Special diets are accommodated. Before moving to beautiful Western North Carolina to open a B & B, Judy and David owned and operated a natural foods restaurant and market in Ocean City, NJ, so they know all about accommodating vegans, vegetarians, and even macrobiotic diets. During the week, a choice continental breakfast will be available for you to select your favorites from. There will always be something yummy for snacks or fresh fruit and also a pot of organic coffee or organic tea available as well as a refrigerator stocked with soft drinks. The beds are all queen size and the mattresses are very comfortable and pillow topped. Speaking of pillows, you won?t ever be in need of more pillows here. There?s plenty on the bed and more in the closet if you want. Byrd?s Nest comes with a therapeutic whirlpool tub. Doc Bennett?s Retreat comes with a 6 foot claw foot tub and plenty of bath salts or bubble bath for you to enjoy your soak to the max. All the rooms come with robes and slippers for your maximum comfort. We aim to pamper you!
