Abigail Moore's Bluegrass Music Place
Abigail Michelle Moore Robbinsville, NC, 28771 Ph: 828-479-4545 - E-mail: easy@dnet.net or abbymoore88@yahoo.com Abigail was born June 11, 1988 in Sylva, NC. And grew up at Tuskeegee, a little community near Robbinsville, NC. She attened public school untill age 9 when her mother started home schooling her. She love's being home schooled. Abigail started taking piano lessions at age eight. Then when about ten (1998) she and her mother (Doris Moore) attended a Christmas show at the local school. There were folks there we knew that played bluegrass music. One in perticular was (Bill Morphew) who plays the mandolin. So Abigail came home and the first thing she asked for was a mandolin. I said what brought all that on so sudden. Abigail said I was watching (Bill Morphew) playing tonight and decided I wanted a mandolin, and I said sure just like that. Well we didn't rush right out and and buy her one, we let it ride for a while. Then one day about two weeks later she said dad where is my mandolin, and I said you really want one, she said yes. So we made a trip up to Ciderville Music Store in Knoxville, TN, a friend of ours own's the store (David West). Abigail picked out an (A model Kentucky 140 mandolin) to start out with (We didnt want to spend a lot till we saw if she was serious) she was. We had to find someone to give her lesson's and we called a local music teacher (William). At first he was reluctent to take on a child to teach, he said he found most of the time it was the parents that wanted them to take the lesson's. I told him this wasn't the case that she was the one who wanted them. He said bring her on over and I will know in a few minutes if she is interested, he saw right away she was a natural. She took lesson's for a couple of months and one day she came home with her teacher's fiddle. I said what are you doing with that? Abigail said, (William) says I'm fiddle material and he was starting me out on it. She had lesson's for a week or two on the fiddle, when one day (Bill Morphew) came over too our house. Abigail got out her mandolin to show him what she had learned. Then she got the fiddle out and played some for him. Bill was so impressed he came back the next day carrying a fiddle case. Abigail went out to meet him, he said I have something for you and handed her the case. There was a very old hand crafted fiddle in it and he gave it to her and she plays it to this day, all tho she has six other fiddles now. She loves it very much. Abigail has went on to become a very accomplished musician, playing the fiddle, mandolin, guitar, bass fiddle, and piano. She started singing at about eleven year's of age. and doing show's with her band (The Snowbird Mountain Band). Abigail recorded her first CD along with her band, on July 6th, 2001, just a few days after her thirteenth birthday. Abigail paid for the studio time out her own pocket with money she had earned doing show's and baby sitting. She borrowed the money to have the CD's and Tape's made which totaled about twelve hundred dollars, it was all paid back within two month's from Tape's and CD sale's. Abigail is, Bluegrass,Mountain,Gosple, and Old Country Music, through and through, Her choice, She lives to play music. Fred Moore
