1889 WhiteGate Inn & Cottage

Cascading waterfalls welcome you to this 1889 New England Shingle-Style home filled with antiques, collectables, original works of art and orchids from our greenhouse. Elegance envelops you at every turn. The Inn offers yesterday?s ambiance with all of today?s conveniences. A candlelit three course gourmet breakfasts begins each morning. Refreshments are served each evening in the solarium overlooking the Koi pond or on the patio warmed by the outdoor fire pit. There are five Luxurious guest rooms and a Cottage for those who want complete privacy. We offer a full concierge service. The WhiteGate Inn is the closest Inn to downtown Asheville, and its 100 plus art galleries, antique stores, restaurants, bookstores, sidewalk caf?s. AAA 3 Diamond Award

WhiteGate Cottage

Circa 1889. A white picket fence surrounds this historic home. Luxury accommodations include 2 rooms and 3 suites named to honor American poets and decorated with antiques and collectibles. The WhiteGate Cottage includes, a living room with working fireplace and full kitchen. The WhiteGate Inn had its beginnings as a Victorian, which including a three-story tower. In 1907 Frederick Kent a prominent businessman reconstructed the home, removing the tower and adding onto the home transforming it into an English shingle-style structure. Guests can relax in front of a fire in the parlor, enjoy the warmth of the solarium, roam the exotically landscaped yard with its waterfalls, or venture into the greenhouse, which is filled with orchids and tropicals. In the mornings, a lavish, three-course breakfast is served. A sample menu might include a starter course of peach halves poached in vanilla syrup, filled with ricotta mousse, a main course of crab and artichoke heart egg puff in a white wine and parsley sauce, and a sweet course of chocolate torte in orange caramel sauce. After breakfast, guests can take a drive and enjoy the scenery of the Blue Ridge Mountains, visit the Biltmore Estate or explore downtown Asheville.

Cascading waterfalls flow from the front entrance down the east lawn surrounded by award winning gardens. The waterfalls end in the Koi Pond next to the Patio and the fire pit, where evening refreshments are served to our guests. Guests can enjoy the sounds of nature in an urban setting. The Inn offers a lush oasis in the middle of the city.
